If you’ve ever gone through a dungeon or a trial and received a faded copy of an Orchestrion Roll, and wondered how to turn it into a consumable one… or you just threw the faded one away, this post is definitely for you, as I’ll teach you what they’re for, and how easily you can either boost your collection or make a ton of Gil on the Market Board!

In order to use Orchestrion Rolls, you’ll need to get yourself an Alchemist, or become one yourself. There’s no need to level it all the way to 90, as some faded rolls can be used at level 30, some at 50, some at 60, and those are still quite profitable. Basically, alchemists are the ones who turn them into active Orchestrion Rolls through crafting recipes – both ordinary ones, and Master recipes that you unlock if you purchase the Alchemist master recipe books, and those you can get in Mor Dhona or Idyllshire.
So let’s say you have some Master recipes available, or you’ve leveled your Alchemist to level 50 or so. If you scroll through your Crafting log, you’ll see Orchestrion Rolls popping up as craftables from time to time. Different orchestrion rolls require different mats, but for all of them, you’ll need a Grade 1, 2 or 3 Blank Sheets, some type of Ink, there currently being 10 kinds of them, as well as your faded roll – one or sometimes more. The Sheets are crafted by Carpenter, but you can also get them from the Market Board if you don’t have one leveled. Ink can be crafted by Alchemist, hopefully yourself. The ink you need to craft for a certain recipe available to you will probably also be available for crafting from previous levels’ recipes, so check it out, or get it from the Market Board if you’re feeling particularly lazy for some reason. Faded rolls, however, will be dropping all over the place, and even though you’ve probably been encountering the ones that are sold for a couple of Gil, there are some super expensive and rare faded rolls that are sold for thousands, even hundreds of thousands of Gil depending on their rarity.
Still, if you’re buying the faded rolls and all the mats from the Market Board, chances are that your finished product will be so much more expensive than the Gil invested. Some rolls whose faded versions are sold for a couple of Gil are sold for dozens of Gil on the Market Board, just because people don’t quite know what to do with them. Of course, crafting your own mats is the most profitable, but you can be making a ton of Gil either way!
That’s pretty much all the wisdom you need in order to craft your own Orchestrion Rolls, or sell them at the Market Board and get rich off them.
