In one of my latest posts, I showed you how to get a toy that’ll turn you into a ghost, along with some cool spectral mounts that go well with the appearance. But we’re not done yet, as you still may not have a spectral pet to go with your roleplay performance. Or maybe you don’t care about that too much, but you are a pet battler who’s attracted to the idea of an undead kitty with beast-like abilities. Whatever it is, today you’ll learn how to get Lucy, a battle pet added in Shadowlands that does a great job of resembling the ghostly theme of this expansion. She’s adorable, she’s unique, and there’s no reason not to add her to your collection!

Getting Lucy may not be the easiest thing in the world, but you may be lucky enough to get it on your first try and save a bit of farm time. She’s only obtainable whenever you’ve got a calling quest called Training Our Forces, and it doesn’t matter which zone it’s located in. You’ll have a trainee from your faction who will tag along with you while you’re in the zone you have your calling for.
If you happen to get a special trainee, which can be Drippy for Venthyr, Deos for Kyrian, Twinklewings for Night Fae, and Dregs for Necrolords, you’re eligible to get Lucy. Upon killing any minion in the zone you have your calling for (and it doesn’t matter if it’s a quest minion or not, it just needs to be level 60), your trainee may say a special sentence in the general chat.
For Drippy, it’s “Dredged up somethin’ interesting over here, boss!”.
For Deos, it’s “I see something on the ground, here. Come, take a look!”.
Twinklewings will say “I think I see something on the ground, over here!”
Finally, Dregs will tell you “Dug up some parts! Look!”.
Once you see the message, immediately start looking for anything shiny, interactable and lootable on the ground, as something called Dirty Glinting Object will appear near where you killed a minion. When you hover over it, there will be a loot icon, but after you’ve looted the item, you won’t have any loot dialog boxes opening to see what it is. You need to open your bag and take a look. I’m not quite sure if the Postmaster will mail you your loot if your bags are full, so have some slots empty just in case.
Dirty Glinting Object can contain plenty of different items, including portal items to the zones, potions, food, drinks, gems, battle pet items, crafting materials, stuff for fishing, some temporary item enhancements, as well as the battle pet you’re after, presented in the form of Lucy’s Lost Collar.
Additional Lucy Farming Tips…
Now, I have a few tips when you’re going out there to farm Lucy. First of all, you can only get the loot once every five minutes in the game, and you can’t cheat this timer by re-logging, so if you’re unlucky with your loot, I suggest you do something else for five minutes if you don’t get Lucy but want to try again, as there’s no point in going around killing stuff.
Also, your trainee will continue to hang around with you until you turn in the calling, so there’s no need to hold off on doing the world quests until you’ve gotten Lucy. If this is something you’re trying to farm and sell, you can do that by learning the pet and putting it in the cage, but the prices on the auction house are not as high as I’d expected. Last time I checked, Lucy was around 15K gold, so if you’ve got that kind of money and don’t feel like farming, you can also buy her on the auction house, and she may get even cheaper over time, as more people get more than one Lucy.
If you feel like you’re gonna miss the message in chat, I’ve also got some good news, as one of the fellow Lucy farmers created a WeakAura that will announce when there’s a Dirty Glinting Object on the ground, so if you need some help, this is the kind of thing you wanna get.
If you’re doing this as a raid group, the lootable object on the ground will not spawn for any of you. Therefore, if you’re gonna farm this with a group of friends or random people, be in the groups of five or less, and make sure the group doesn’t convert to the raid one.
And that’s it when it comes to getting Lucy! If you found this guide useful, leave it a like so more people can treat themselves with a cool pet. If you’re more of a visual type, and you don’t mind getting easy wins in WoW, you can check out all of this in my video – and subscribe for more awesome WoW stuff!
